I've been in the Washington DC for a month now and I'm ready to get re-focused on my triathlon dream. I intend to enter my first race when the new season starts next summer. Here's the breakdown of the steps I need to take within the next 3 months. Further updating might come later...
-1) Maintain scheduled gym work out (3 times per week)
-2) Join Jamaica's and DC's triathlon club
-3) Go the triathlon seminars
-4) Buy triathlon gear
-5) Join swim classes in January
-6) Go to triathlon practice workouts
Triathlon Re-focused
I'm back
It has been awhile since my last post. I do not even know where to start now. My football posts are over. I've just been enjoying the game. Now moving on with the next phase of my life-
I've moved to the USA, and now live in Washington DC working in my field. Finally!!! I love psychology.
I am closer to my girlfriend now, which I'm so happy about. She'll be coming to visit me over the Christmas holidays, and I'm going to New York over the New Year's holiday.
I'm settling into my new environment and also looking to re-start my triathlon training.
Things are going good. Hope to blog some more and we see what happens from here on out.

Closer and closer to leaving
I got it! So the embassy interview, I was anxious about is now behind me. I got the visa this time and shortly I'll be leaving my island home for the East Coast. I'm excited, and looking forward to this new chapter in my life. The professional experience is something I've been longing for, and didn't have much opportunity to do here in Jamaica. Everyone wants someone with years of experience, and so young people fresh out of college don't stand a chance. So now is my time to shine.
Also, I'll be able to see my baby more often. While I'll be in DC, New York is not that far away. The distance between New York and Jamaica, well it wasn't a challenge for us but now this makes it much easier. Yai!
Leaving Jamaica on November 7.

NFL Season Picks- Week 5 Results
Week 5 was filled with major excitement. Wonderful wonderful games and I loved every minute of it. Well, thankfully I didn't have to endure the torture of watching the Bills and the Browns. My record means less and less to me, especially when the Bengals can beat the Steelers. The Cardiac Cats attack again! And how beautiful was it when the student, Josh McDaniels was victorious over the teacher, Bill Bellichick.
And so the results - 10-4

So close, oh so close
On Thursday, October 15th, I will finally know if I will be granted a J1 Visa for the Psychology internship programme that I have been accepted into. Last July, I had gone to the embassy and had gotten turned down, mainly because I didn't communicate clearly my work experience in Psychology. This time, I'll be going armed with letters from my professor and also a letter from CIPUSA to reflect that I have the necessary qualifications to be granted the visa. Everyone, has their fingers crossed for me and I want this so very badly. I'm nervous, excited, nervous and anxious. Tomorrow is Wednesday and then we have Thursday. I just want to know, and yes I want good news.

NFL Season Picks- Week 4 Results
Week 4 has been great. The Titans, not so great. The Dallas Cowboys has been proven to be not as great as their new stadium. Greatness continues to flow through the New York Giants and the Indianapolis Colts, some is rubbing off on the New Orleans Saints, while the New England Patriots, are trying to reclaim their greatness. And the results are in.
My record this week-11-3

My overall record throughout the first four weeks- 51-11
NFL Season Picks- Week 4
As the season progresses, teams are now finding out how good/bad they are and some are starting to crack under the pressure of making the playoffs, while others are having a great first quarter of football. There are some major clashes this week. I'm rooting for Flacco over Brady; rookie, Sanchez over Brees and the high flying saints; and old man Favre over his old team. Let's see Denver stick it to Dallas too, while Pittsburgh reclaims their Superbowl form, or the Steel City will sure start to crack. Oh yes, goooooo GMEN!! Here goes the prediction for Week 4!
DET @ CHI
CIN @ CLE
OAK @ HOU

Sick Leave
I've been wanting to blog since Wednesday but I couldnt muster up the energy. I'm sick. I got the flu. This is the first time I've been ill in 2 years, so when I do get the flu or whatever it is, it seems to hit me hard. Or maybe I'm a wuss lol. So I've been home from work, sleeping the days away and trying to breathe. Another week off for triathlon then, until I recover.
NFL Season Picks- Week 3 Results
Did I mention how much I love football? I love upsets...but not when its my favourite teams that are on the receiving end. So shoulda-coulda-woulda picked Detroit to beat Washington, but I didn't so no moaning over that. Hardly anyone could have thought that Cincinati would have beat Pittsburg. The games were great, some nail-biters; Brett Favre is back, again and again. Shout out to Flacco and the Ravens. My Giants are looking so good;Go Gmen!
And the results are - 14-2

Triathlon Training Take Two
My triathlon training has come to a screeching halt. I was a bit under the weather last week, so I intended on starting back last Saturday. That didn't work out and I feel a bit frustrated with myself. I did buy a jump rope, and I begun jumping yesterday. Jump-roping is a great cardio booster and it will add some texture to my routine. I'll do my best to get things off and running this Saturday; back to the hill I go.
NFL Season Picks- Week 3
Week 3 of the NFL Regular Season is about 3hrs away from kickoff. Again we have some tough match-ups this week. For example, the Tennessee Titans are motivated at 0-2 and really needs a win. They're up against the New York Jets, filled with confidence from their win against the New England Patriots last week. We also have a possible shootout between the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts, so lets see who's defense will step up. Also, will the Atlanta Falcons (0-2) be able to upset the New England Patriots? Without further ado. Here are the match-ups and my picks in bold!
CLE @ BAL
WAS @ DET
JAC @ HOU
ATL @ NE
GB @ STL
NYG @ TB

Training Weeks 3 and 4
Training Week 3 went great. Week 4 came to a halt, as I wasn't feeling well. I'm good now, so we're heading right back on track, starting tomorrow morning. I also will be adding a jump rope to my routine, as it's an easy way to get cardio in, while not having to leave home. Perfect mid week when I have work. So things are still going, just somewhat on a low right now.
I found an awesome site though. It gives me everything I need, and I will soon be using one of the training plans there. I just need to be able to run at least 20mins non-stop, and brush up on my swim some. Here's the site though...awesome....loving it! http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/
NFL Season Picks- Week 2 Results
Week 2 was an interesting one. I picked some teams to win while rooting for the opposing team lol. Case in point, the Patriots vs the Jets...I picked the Patriots, but the Jets won! I'm excited even though this will affect my stats. So this is how it turned out. Record 11-5

NFL Season Picks- Week 1 Results
Brilliant start! I won't elaborate. Just look at my results. Mainly one shocker. I cannot believe the Cardinals lost! I won't complain too much because the Broncos escaped with one. Frankly they ruined it by trading Jake Cutler this off-season. My Giants looking awesome! So my record is 15-1. See you in Week 2
NFL Season Picks- Week 1
My favourite sport had its season opener on September 10. I've always wanted to pick the games and keep track officially and see how I match up with the experts. So here goes. My pics are in bold. You gotta trust that I really did pick Pittsburg, because I did....come on, who could go against the defending champions?
This year, as is my pic every year for the Super Bowl Champions...I'm bringing the NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS!! They'll face the New England Patriots and it will be a re-match with the same results. So ready for Sunday Football...fantasy teams are locked and all is set. Who's ready for some FOOTBALL?!! I AM!!!!!

Training: Week Two
My weekly Saturday training was postponed. However, it was for a valid reason. I was going on a beach outing with co-workers, so I planned to work on my swim that day. I haven't mentioned, but the swim will be the most challenging part of my triathlon training. Still, I love a challenge and I love to swim...just not great at it....YET lol. So, Saturday went well and I got a great work out, while having lots of fun.
I took Sunday off, and since I didn't have work Monday, I went hiking/jogging that day instead. So up again 5.45 am and ready to roll. I was feeling some tightness in my thighs but I was going to push through. Got to the hill, hiking up and my gosh...my ass was feeling it. I kept my goal in mind;"To the top, to the top" was my mantra. Excellent work out still...the pain even felt good...I so love working out.
Ok, so Wednesday, I decided to mix it up a little...something more challenging, shall we? Today was jogging...along with the road...the aim is to be able to run 30mins straight by the end of November. So I got going, and I realised that it wasn't as easy as I thought. First run was to get warmed up...stopped by the wayside...and stretched all those muscles...and then off I went again. Body feeling good...or so I tried to convince myself. Honestly though, my legs were getting heavy, my heart was racing and I was dripping...and that was after 6 mins! So all in all, I did an 8min run, then a 6mins and another 6mins...so thats my starting point.
Training week two is now locked...and ready for week Three!
Who's that?
This just makes me look back at my own life, and the pressures I've faced to 'fit' in to the stereotypical female role. At the start of this year, I went on a quest to 'update' my wardrobe, and ended up buying a few new pairs of work shoes. Now, they only bring me bouts of embarrassment, and consternation when I put them on. Thank goodness, I'm back to my full senses, have ditched those and bought something I think is very much sensible to me.
Of course, the saleswoman at the store had to remind me that I'm buying a male shoe, as if I'm asking her for the money. Well, I happily bought my shoe and gosh, do I feel better!
Training: Week One
August 29th marked the beginning of my quest. I woke at 5.30am. Hmm, what a beautiful quiet morning...I'm a morning person, but I struggled just a bit to get out of bed but aftter a quick pep talk, I was dressed and ready to go. The jog to the hill didn't feel like the greatest idea since my chest was already burning and my legs were ready to give way. But I stuck to it, and the idea was less conforting when I got to the hill and thought of the climb ahead. The idea is slow and steady to build up my endurance and fitness. So meet you at the top! Nice view huh?

You're invited
The main thing though for me is the cooking and I can’t wait to try a few things. I’ve been watching Top Chef and Hell’s Kitchen and though I can’t fit a professional chef into the many things I want to do with myself, I’ll most humbly be a home chef.
So here’s some idea of what might be on the menu. Just mostly finger food, yes.
Mozzarella Sticks
Chicken Tikka
Potato Salad
I'm starting a blog

So this is where my life is currently at.
